The high of my day happened at work when I was guiding a group of 9 divers. It was the end of the dive and we had about 10 more minutes to dive but we were already back underneath the boat. I usually see green turtles here but I hadn’t so I decided to swim shallow and look around. Sure enough, I found a young female green turtle sleeping underneath a gorgonian coral in the white sand of the shallows. I laid down in the sand on my belly about 10 feet from her and just watched her eyes slowly close as she fell asleep. She was so peaceful I did not even show her to the diver guests. What a terrible divemaster I am, but sometimes you just have to keep some moments for yourself.
The low of my day was paying $29.75 for 54oz of organic extra virgin coconut oil. Island life problems.
