For your health:

Medium Chain Triglycerides are a special kind of fatty acid that go straight to your liver from the digestive tract and can be used for energy.

MCTs are a healthy fat and are proven to reduce hunger, stimulate your metabolism, improve your thyroid function, and increase weight loss especially in the abdomen.

They also improve your nutrient absorption and make fat-based vitamins (A, E, D, K) and non fat based (calcium, magnesium) more available to your body. You should also be taking a multivitamin everyday!

The special MCTs in coconut oil have been proven to improve mental health and cognitive function and even improve the clarity in Alzheimer’s patients. It is good for the brain!

MCTs aid in every part of the digestive tract. It can act as a antacid, soothes stomach ulcers, improves bowel function, and kills bacteria and pathogens preventing infection.

Heart health is greatly improved by adding MCTs to your diet and it is clinically proven to reduce cholesterol which can reduce your risk of heart disease.

Studies have shown that MCTs are an anti-carcinogen and can prevent cancers as well as slow the growth of cancer cells in the body.

Coconut oil is proven to reduce frequency of seizures in epileptic patients, especially children.

How can you add coconut oil to your diet? So many options! You can simply take a tablespoon of it daily but sometimes its better to be creative. I do like the taste of it so for me it’s pretty easy but some people don’t like the feeling of drinking an oil. The best is to mix it into your morning coffee or smoothie and you will barely notice it at all. If you don’t like that, you can cook with it in place of any other oil. Make sure that you buy unrefined virgin organic coconut oil. When it is stored in warmer environments it will be a clear thin liquid but if kept in air conditioned environments it will be more viscous and white.

For your skin:

Burns, scars, age spots, sunburn and bruises will all fade faster when coconut oil is applied to the skin regularly. I have noticed a serious difference and my scars of my leg from surgery are fading. Been applying for almostΒ a year. I have heard it works wonders on psoriasis and eczema (I think any skin condition, really) but IΒ don’t have experience with that.

Apply to your face for use as a makeup remover as well as a cleanser. I know it seems crazy to put oil on your face but it actually heals any imperfections you have and makes your skin tone more even. It also reduces eye puffiness and wrinkles! I just started using it on my face and I do like it but not sure of the long term effects yet.

Applying to minor cuts and scrapes as well as dry, cracked skin will speed up the healing process and minimize scarring. I do this all the time on my feet at night because after working on the dock everyday they really need it and they soak up the oil and in the morning they are supple and soft. Way better than any lotion or body butter I have tried. I also use it on mosquito bites and when I had fire ant bites (not fun) all over my feet it actually made it stop itching and they went away faster.

Keep some in the shower. I saved a cetaphil bottle and filled it with coconut oil so I could use it in the shower when I shave. It is so much better than shaving cream or soap and it leaves your skin like silk. Using it after shaving also prevents razor burn and irritation. I have heard that you can also mix it with salt and use it as a body scrub but I haven’t done it.

Use as chapstick. It tastes good, moisturizes and has a little shine. It ALSO has an SPF of 4 so it protects your lips from UV rays.

If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, you can use it for massage oil and its so good for your skin plus it smells wonderful.

For your hair:

Use as either a hair mask or hair conditioner to increase growth, improve strength, add shine and repair damage. You can do a deep treatment and use a lot of oil massaging it into the scalp and through to the ends and leave in for as long as you want even overnight in a towel or a shower cap. Another option is to use as a pretreatment before showering letting it soak in for a few minutes before washing your hair. I also keep a spray bottle in my work backpack so I can spray it in my hair after diving so it doesn’t dry out from the salt and sun too much. My hair needs all the help it can get since I am in the ocean everyday. I apply it to wet or dry hair whenever I feel like it needs some love.

Now go out and get your miracle oil!! These days most grocery stores are carrying it and if not, order it on amazon. You will wonder how you ever lived without it.
